Salon Kitty

The below-average script and unremarkable direction make it hard to perceive the film as a drama or melodrama, and as an anti-war film, it is more of an insult to the subject. As for daring erotica, it's not really present here, but on the other hand, the girls in the film are quite attractive and capable of delivering at least some decent acting performances in certain cases. The film does have a little bit of sensuality in the way it appears in the arranged shots of glamorous women by photographer Helmut Newton, thanks to the makeup, costumes, and posing of the women in front of the camera. Ob gewollte oder ungewollte Parodie, so erscheint aus dem heutigen Blickwinkel dieser ekelerregende Ausrutscher von Brass. Stellenweise mag es zwar erscheinen, dass es sich um ein Skandalthema oder vielleicht einen Film mit den schauspielerischen Lieblingen von Visconti, Bergman oder Pasolini handelt, aber lassen Sie sich nicht täuschen. Einzig Teresa Ann Savoy, die es bis zu Caligula schaffte, war etwas besser, ansonsten war Kitty das Aus für die ehemaligen Künstler. Und das Sujet? Zum Platzen. (14.06.2011)

Tinto Brass wasn't always just a pig, but maybe he was trying to convey something with his films. At least that's the feeling I had with the film Salon Kitty, where surprisingly the best erotic scenes, which are still quite restrained for Tinto, are not the highlight, but rather the "visit" scene, which manages to leave a lasting impression.
