Ein Beispiel für eine schlechte Filmregie wie aus einem Lehrbuch. Visuell überwältigend, aber das Casting und die Dialoge sind ein pures Unheil. Als ob das Ganze ein zweiter Filmstab aufgenommen hätte, der üblicherweise nur an technischen Zwischenszenen ohne Schauspielaction arbeitet und nicht die Dramaturgie der Geschichte klären muss (unter so etwas litten auch die letzten Transformers).

I am not a tornado expert and I’ve never even seen a tornado. Nevertheless, I cannot imagine that a monster such as the one that appeared in this movie could appear in America. On the other hand, I bow down before the creators, because they did a great job connecting handheld camera with a proper filmmaking. I could hardly believe how many great shots this movie had. At times where a low-budget movie would be shaky, in this movie the cameraman clearly got some robot helper who did the job for him, or they fed him more, because the camera is stable even during the biggest hurricane and offers a view only mother nature can create. I have to say, I was really surprised. I’ve always been fascinated by tornados and this movie is not any exception. Just the classic American moralizing at the end was a bit unnecessary.

A TV movie with a really high budget. About four or five scenes are really worth watching (mainly the fire and Mack’s flypast the airport), and so such a high rating, but the rest is just stuffing. Dumb dialogs, “random shots", illogical nonsense. And poor Richard Armitage cast in a role totally beyond the abilities of heartless tough guys.

Der Film sieht wirklich toll aus und er hört sich auch toll an, aber die vielen Situationen, die wir schon so oft gesehen haben und die immer noch schrecklich ernst gemeint ist, sind echt eine Katastrophe. Und auch die Idee, den ganzen Film mit Handkameras und Überwachungskameras zu drehen, konnte ihn nicht interessanter machen. Es wirkt nämlich so, dass jeder in dieser Stadt eine Kamera hat (vielleicht nur der Hund nicht) und dass jeder ein Dokumentarist sein möchte, was die ganze "Authentizität“ herabsetzt. Egal, wie gelungen die Trick-Tornados und wie interessant die Szenen mit ihrem Wüten sind – Storm Hunters ist vor allem langweilig und ich muss mir irgendwann mal wieder Twister ansehen. Zweieinhalb.

The dialogues are terribly stupid, and in some scenes, I had to struggle not to start laughing - like the resuscitation of the son, where Armitage probably resuscitated himself. However, the film does have good use of handheld camera, which is appropriately effective. Moreover, it simply manages to do what it's supposed to - impress and entertain. Some scenes, although obviously heavily digital, are truly magnificent and can give you chills. The acting is weak, but unfortunately, that's what you expect from a similar disaster movie.
