Ukraine, 1941: Der junge, hochbegabte Violinist Abrascha (Elin Kolev) und die nicht minder begabte Pianistin Larissa (Imogen Burrell) werden als Wunderkinder der klassischen Musik gefeiert. Sie spielen in den großen Konzertsälen Russlands – vor der Parteielite und sogar vor Stalin. Hanna (Mathilda Adamik), Tochter des deutschen Brauers Max Reich (Kai Wiesinger) sowie seiner Frau Helga (Catherine Flemming), ist selbst eine talentierte Geigerin und wünscht sich nichts sehnlicher, als Unterricht mit den russischen Wunderkindern zu bekommen. Larissa und Abrascha reagieren verhalten. Erst als ihre Lehrerin Irina Salmonova (Gudrun Landgrebe) einwilligt, auch Hanna zu unterrichten, entwickelt sich zwischen den Kindern eine innige Freundschaft. Aber bald wird sie auf eine harte Probe gestellt. Nach dem Angriff der Deutschen auf Russland müssen sich die Reichs verstecken. Und die jüdischen Familien von Larissa und Abrascha helfen ihnen. Another purely German affair that attempts to address the traumas of the WWII on its own. I liked the approach that the Germans took with it. Because it’s obvious that they are trying to consider the era’s circumstances objectively, which is also the story of the miraculous children who didn’t exactly have a happy childhood. But in all regards, it’s a successful movie that might be a bit too dragged out at times, which is common with dramas. The music was beautiful, the actors were absolutely amazing, which makes the viewer all the more appreciative of them being children. And when it comes to the story itself? That could have only been written by war itself!
