Altered Carbon – Das Unsterblichkeitsprogramm

I'm giving Season 1 four stars. The reason why I didn’t give a fifth one was that it had a few minor flaws that piled up. But overall, I liked the series a lot. The premise didn't seem very original, but the execution was excellent. True, some of the names took me by surprise (Takeshi Kovacs, Gottfried Saito), but then again, why not? What I think was a bad move was casting Dichen Lachman as Reileen Kawahara, I really wouldn't believe for a second that she wasn't on the dark side of the Force. What I really enjoyed was the setting, they did a great job creating the world of the future. I would check into the Raven Hotel in a heartbeat, I would love to stay there. The first season managed to maintain a great atmosphere pretty much throughout. There were decent action scenes, and I really enjoyed the story. I'm looking forward to the next season. // I can't help it but Renée Goldsberry as Quellcrist Falconer reminds me so much of Citra Talugmai from Far Cry 3. 4*+ (29.07.2018)

The main hero, although not as disoriented as John Spartan after his awakening, still entertained me well. The Swede in the lead role pleased me, as did James Purefoy in another one of his typical roles. The plot doesn't seem too original, so I hope the jokes with the portable life will spice things up. But yes, this will work. I enjoyed the second episode even more than the pilot, I have the impression that everything started to unfold in the right way. The pace of the story is not really fast, but I don't mind at all, there is no waste of action, but if there is any, it has a decent level and I like the overall atmosphere. (27.07.2018)

Satisfaction lasts even after the third episode. Poe, the personification of the U Havran hotel, is gradually becoming more entertaining to me. He's the kind of supporting character who isn't necessarily essential for the continuation of the story, but without whom it wouldn't be the same. Bancroft's party convinced me that people simply love gladiators, and the meeting with the twelfth daughter was enlightening. (28.07.2018)

This time, the creators decided to deviate from the slower pace of the story and surprised me with an episode that could be used for training even by CIA employees who enjoy talking to Islamists in Guantanamo. Therefore, the episode had its distinctive atmosphere, only disturbed by entertaining moments with the grandmother, and the conclusion improved it all. (28.07.2018)

The fifth episode brought a great atmosphere, there was also a decent amount of tension, and fans of action as well as romantic viewers came into their own. I definitely had a great time, once again, I added a few pieces to the puzzle, and I have to admit that the creators really succeed in strong conclusions of each episode. (28.07.2018)

In the sixth episode, I hesitated with my rating a bit. It was weaker than the previous episode, but I still considered giving it a weaker five out of ten, however, I wasn't convinced by the conclusion in the cage. Takeshi Kovacs didn't perform as expected, I expected him to not be easily taken aback with his abilities, and I didn't quite understand why Ortega didn't fully utilize the new right-hand weapon. 4*+ (28.07.2018)

The seventh episode disappointed me because it focused only on the past and the story didn't actually move forward. Moreover, looking into the past didn't bring me any surprising findings. What I didn't learn from the previous events, I deduced quite easily, so the only interesting aspect was probably the fine-tuning of details. (29.07.2018)

After the previous turn, the main story came back in full swing, so I enjoyed the atmosphere of the new world once again. Except for the ending, this time it wasn't exactly an action-packed episode, but I had a lot of fun creating the story for Bancroft and I could laugh quite a bit - Ava was flawless. The only thing missing was a kiss upon reunion, that would have been icing on the cake. :-) (29.07.2018)

We had a little intensification in the ninth episode again. It is interesting how in this version of the future, nobody cares about what they wear, but rather thinks about who they are with. I can hear those questions clearly: "Darling, do I look fat in this body?" "And now?" But seriously, I enjoyed it, the atmosphere was there, the tension was there, the action was there. The whole ending seemed a bit too happy to me, but despite some flaws, I decided to go for five pieces. The creators didn't hesitate to sacrifice some characters and for me, it represents the hardest loss, a life that wasn't really even a life. I somehow grew fond of it. (29.07.2018)

I thought I would gradually get used to the new cast. However, as the story progressed, it became evident that they hadn’t found a suitable replacement for Joel Kinnaman or James Purefoy, which had a negative effect on the whole. I wasn't really interested in the supporting characters, even Poe lost his charm. The story wasn’t very impressive either. Plus, the whole second season had a cheap feel to it, there was practically no atmosphere, and I was often bored. A huge disappointment. (08.07.2020)

I knew I'd find it hard to get used to Takeshi's new case, and I'll certainly miss Purefoy's charismatic antagonist. The story has echoes of the first season, with some subtle nuances thrown in. Let's see where it takes us from here. (06.07.2020)

The second season continues to leave me underwhelmed. The new storyline fails to captivate me. I find myself longing for a truly charismatic character to anchor the narrative. Here's hoping things pick up soon. (06.07.2020)

At last, a four-star rating, albeit with reservations. While this episode showcased improved pacing compared to its predecessors, it still falls short of the captivating narrative of the first season. Somehow, it fails to fully engage me. 4*- (07.07.2020)

The creators seem to have realized how weak the characters are, resorting to revisiting familiar faces from the previous season. Yet, I'm skeptical if this move will salvage the plot by using inquisitional strategies. It's just not clicking for me. (07.07.2020)

I'm committed to finishing the season, with only three episodes left, but I can't say I'm looking forward to it. It's disappointing how much more prominent Poe has become this season. It feels like they're overdoing it. The episode felt dull, and Poe's virtual expedition only added to that feeling. (07.07.2020)

All this running through the forest and cave exploration is giving me serious The 100 vibes. And to add to the disappointment, it feels like the creators skimped on the budget for the second season, making it look painfully cheap. (08.07.2020)

Well, things have taken a turn for the worse. There's been a decrease in outdoor runs, but it's been replaced with even more running in the Matrix. Sometimes, I wonder if the creators themselves can distinguish between the two. With the way things are going, I wouldn't be shocked if they brought in the Mother of Dragons herself (though that's a different series altogether, but hey, who's keeping track?). (08.07.2020)

What a fairy tale! Yaay! All it needed was some snow, a Christmas tree, a crackling fireplace, and Santa to make it a perfect holiday story. What a fantastic way to wrap up the season and leave the door open for a potential next one. Well, count me out! (08.07.2020)
