Der siebenjährige Antonio wächst in einer streng katholischen Familie auf, als er eines Tages auf die Heilerin Ultima trifft, mit der ihn schon bald eine tiefe Freundschaft verbindet. Durch sie lernt er eine faszinierende spirituelle Welt kennen und beginnt dabei, an den Leitsätzen der katholischen Kirche zu zweifeln. Ultima jedoch wird der Hexerei bezichtigt, und Antonio muss sich schließlich über seine Zukunft und seinen Glauben klarwerden. (Kabel eins classics)

This is a rather inconspicuous picture from New Mexico during World War II. While English is mostly spoken here, the Spanish mentality is apparent. The story of an older woman, a witch, and a little boy is quite moving, but on the other hand, it's not that unusual. There are moments that will definitely touch you, but there are also moments that won't do anything to you. It's a shame. Perhaps working on the script a bit more would have taken the movie much further.
