Zwei arabische Brüder im tristen Londoner Stadtteil Hackney. Für den 14-jährigen Mo ist sein älterer Bruder Rashid ein Idol: Er ist Mitglied einer Gang, dealt mit Drogen, unterstützt die Familie und wird auf der Straße respektiert. Als es dann jedoch zu einem tragischen Zwischenfall kommt, stellt Rashid seinen Lebensweg infrage. Die zufällige Begegnung mit dem schwulen Fotografen Sayyid eröffnet ihm eine neue Welt mit vielen Möglichkeiten. Doch seinem Bruder Mo will das gar nicht gefallen – und als die Gang davon erfährt, will sie ihn definitiv fertigmachen... Authentisch, rasant und sehr atmosphärisch erzählt My Brother The Devil eine Coming-of-Age-Geschichte von der bedingungslosen Liebe zweier Brüder, über Identitätsfindung und den Mut, seinen eigenen Weg in einer kompromisslosen Welt zu gehen. In this film, it is extremely important that it did not try to be epic, but the whole footage is focused only on a few characters, mainly on two brothers. Their fate, their relationships, and conflicts with other people are so interesting that it holds the viewer's attention. It is not an action movie, but a truly human drama from London, which has really grim neighborhoods. Now, I don't mean because of the people, they are unpleasant even in noble neighborhoods, but I mean those ghettos with huge semi-decayed tower blocks. That in itself is such a depressing environment that it actually forces things to happen here, especially dark things.
