Bianca Stratford ist die heißeste Braut an der High School. Jeder Junge würde gerne mal mit ihr ausgehen, doch Biancas Vater hat eine eiserne Regel aufgestellt: Bianca darf nur zu einem Rendezvous, wenn auch ihre ältere Schwester Katarina ein Date hat. Das Dumme ist nur, dass Katarina nichts auf ihr Aussehen gibt und Jungs hasst. Doch Cameron, der sich unsterblich in Bianca verliebt hat, hat eine Idee. Er bietet Bianca an, einen Rendezvous-Partner für Katarina zu finden, danach könne sie mit ihm ausgehen. Bianca willigt ein. In dem störrischen Einzelgänger Patrick Verona findet Cameron auch tatsächlich jemanden, der sich bereit erklärt, mit Katarina zu flirten. Natürlich nur für klingende Münze. Bald schon jedoch wird aus dem Job richtige Liebe... (Super RTL)

At first, after a special mixture of melancholy, nostalgia, and optimism just a few hours after my own prom, Ten Things I Hate About You was my little treasure that I didn't want to see any flaws in. I enjoyed the captivating romance, fresh screenplay and direction, Ledger's charisma, and the beautiful sister duo. But upon second viewing, everything seems like a parody of itself. Scenes that used to evoke positive memories are now just sterile and unfunny paraphrases of Shakespeare. Although the stadium song still works and the guitar scene is still an amazing emotional peak for me, I feel a bit sad that I can no longer be swept away by high school naivety. Some movies should only be seen once.

I will write it without censorship - the majority of so-called American teenage comedies are crap, poorly cast, acted, vulgar, and desperately unremarkable, filmed according to a worn-out formula. When we take it objectively, this film is not amazing either; it relies on familiar clichés, the characters' behavior is entirely predictable, and the resolution can be guessed after ten minutes. On the other hand, it has pleasant and functional cast (both main actors prove why they later became stars) and maintains a certain level. A one-eyed person is simply the king among the blind. Overall impression 45%.

It is not a great romantic comedy, but it is very good. And mainly thanks to excellent characters, where talented young actors shone. It is simply nice to see when there is chemistry between the characters, just as it is pleasant to hear the songs playing in the background. This is a big plus of the film and I thoroughly enjoyed every song.
