Shameless starts its tale about young Adrian in the summer of 1951. Lillian and Amund have their first and only child: A boy. Or is it a girl? The parents refuse the surgery that could have made Adrian a complete person. Instead he grows up as a hermaphrodite. Adrian grows up in an atmosphere of pretentiousness, silence, lies and the only comfort Adrian finds is in the school play, where he plays Oedipus. A role he seems born for...
