This series of five short films deals with individual articles of the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child. The convention makes reference to the specific vulnerability of children and it obliges government authorities to protect their interests, to ensure that they have the best possible living conditions, and to respect the opinions of children on matters that directly concern them. It also condemns any form of discrimination. In these films, we encounter 12-year-old Romy, who suffers from obesity and has had to endure bullying from her classmates for years, as well as 15-year-old Habibola from Afghanistan, who has lived for a year and a half in a refugee camp in the Dutch town of Limburg. We also meet nine-year-old Anna, who spends her days in traffic jams washing car windscreens instead of going to school. On the other hand, we are also introduced to Alexandra. She lives in a small village near the Bosnian-Croatian border and is still trying to come to terms with the death of her brother, who died in a grenade explosion during the conflict in the former Yugoslavia. We are also offered a change of perspective upon meeting Antanas, a homosexually oriented Lithuanian who cannot understand why there is so much hatred towards homosexuals in his country that even his parents prefer to lie about his sexuality.
