Es ist das Jahr 1969: Die ganze Welt konzentriert sich auf die Mondlandung, während im Vietnamkrieg zwei junge Männer kämpfen. Dalton und Mickey entkommen nur knapp einem Angriff. Das Einzige, das Dalton am Leben hält, ist der Gedanke an seine Freundin Jane. Als die Truppe eine einwöchige Pause bekommt, beschließt er sich heimlich abzusetzen, um Jane in Amerika zu überraschen. Sein Freund Mickey begleitet ihn auf seiner Reise. Doch in den USA angekommen, muss er feststellen, dass nichts mehr ist wie es einmal war. Und auch Mickey steht plötzlich vor der Entscheidung: Liebe oder Krieg. (RTL II)

"Love and Honor" is a movie that can evoke even unpleasant feelings in you. At times, it is so saccharine that it caused me actual physical nausea, and I had to avert my gaze not to witness how the actors distort themselves. The romance portrayed here is so strong that one might choke on it. But why? What does it all actually mean? That only true love endures? That only those who still have hope for love return to the jungle? That life will be somehow better after completing a tour? That Canada is a promised land? I don't know. This film doesn't say anything at all. It's just a bad red library that veterans should spit on.
