Hurveenek and Mánička impatiently wait for the arrival of St. Nicolas. But the forgetful Mr. Spejbl has forgotten about distributing presents, so Hurveenek and Mánička decide to rectify this „unbelievable“ affront by dressing up as the Devil and St. Nicolas themselves and surprise his dad and granny. But granny lets Spejbl know that he´s forgotten about the tradition – and then Mr. Spejbl tries to find a Devil costume…And how does it happen that there´s a gathering of more devils than there should be? This fairytale is full of suspense, songs and winter fun. And have you ever seen Mánička ice-skate? (Verleiher-Text)

Ich bin mir nicht ganz sicher, ob dieses Kinomaterial für das 3D-Kino geeignet war, aber sei's drum. All diese früheren Begegnungen zwischen Hurvínek und dem Film sehen ohnehin recht ähnlich aus, angefangen mit Spejblovo filmové opojení von 1931. Dies ist ein kleines Heimspiel, ein Mini-Weihnachtsfilm, den man sich nicht unbedingt im Sommer ansehen sollte, aber in der letzten Woche des Jahres könnte er ganz unterhaltsam sein. Aber ich freue mich, dass die Tradition fortgesetzt und Hurvínek nun zum ersten Mal ohne Leitfäden in die Kinos kommen wird.

You fool, these stupid dialogues, I haven't heard them for a long time. And to hear them from such characters as Hurvínek, Spejbl, and Mánička, it's just sad. It's like we don't know how to make movies about children anymore. When characters like Spejbl and Hurvínek or even Čtyřlístek can't succeed, then I really don't know who should succeed. Maybe for that one good joke that made me laugh, I give those few percent, which still makes me sad. It's just too little for these classic characters.
