Johnny English 2 - Jetzt erst recht

Rowan Atkinson is funny even when he's just standing and staring blankly, but in a hundred minutes he will get boring sooner or later (sooner, in my case) and not even Scully can help him. (15.01.2012)

This amounts to unnecessary suffering that is only functional when the last two Bond films are made fun of. Otherwise, the film offers a crystalline distillate of essential awkwardness in which Atkinson's "poker face" is completely off, you can read the villain from the opening credits, and the only pleasant surprise left is that Gillian Anderson is an utterly luxurious "MILF." :) (25.10.2011)

One half of the plot, which even 007 would almost be proud of, the other half a continuation of the traditions of classic comedies from the 60s á la Louis de Funès. Thanks to the perpetually stone-faced expression of the main character, the second salvo of Johnny's escapades is infinitely enjoyable, even with the unnecessary overdose of the most trivial gag of the whole film. The highlight is then Rowan's perfect cooking lesson, which you better rehearse carefully beforehand. (19.11.2011)

Die Fortsetzung von Johnny English hätte im Vergleich zu dem faden ersten Teil wahrscheinlich nur in zwei Fällen schlechter sein können: Wenn die Hauptrolle nicht Rowan Atkinson gespielt hätte oder wenn er sie gespielt hätte, aber aus irgendeinem rätselhaften Grund nicht mehr witzig gewesen wäre. Glücklicherweise ist nichts dergleichen passiert. Johnny English 2 - Jetzt erst recht hat mir mehr als sein Vorgänger gefallen. Der Film hat viel mehr denkwürdige Momente. Der beste von ihnen ist die schlaue Hongkong-Verfolgungsjagd. Es gibt auch mehr originelle (der Stuhl, der Hubschrauber) und unglaublich durchdachte Witze (das Training bei den Mönchen in Tibet und seine allmähliche Anwendung in der Praxis – vor allem in der Seilbahn). Ich habe mich auch darüber gefreut, dass es in dem Film keine Fäkalien-Szene gibt (für die ich die Drehbuchautoren so wie beim ersten Film hassen müsste). Dank der ständigen Kämpfe mit der manischen Putzfrau erfahren wir, dass ein wiederholter Witz immer noch witzig sein kann, wenn man weiß, wie man ihn wiederholen soll. Der größte Pluspunkt ist die Tatsache, dass Agent English diesmal kein ungeschickter Idiot ist, sondern eher ein fähiger und sympathischer Mensch, der allerdings ziemlich oft Pech hat.__PS: Bei der Abspannszene habe ich geweint. A sequel that relies far too much on mimicry and the unlimited self-mockery of Atkinson, or rather his lead character. I'm not saying it's not fun, after all, who does mime and self-mockery better these days than Mr.Bean? But the charismatic Johnny English certainly didn't deserve such a dumb and illogical script after the nice first episode. A comedy on the basis of "switch off and laugh at everything", in my opinion quite unworthy of the clever cinematic humour that even much less renowned filmmakers across the Channel manage without such problems and with deaf, blind, dumb spots... 60% (12.02.2012)

Der zweite Johnny English tritt in Bezug auf Atmosphäre und Handlung in die Fußstapfen seines Vorgängers, und obwohl er nicht viel Neues bietet, sind es sympathische und humorvolle einhundert Minuten, die man vor dem Bildschirm verbringt. Wieder einmal haben wir es mit heimtückischen Bösewichten zu tun, und wieder einmal erleben wir, wie die English von einem Problem ins nächste gerät (die Mutter des Chefs und die Königin könnten ein Lied davon singen). Trotzdem hat es für mich funktioniert, und die Handlung des Films ging voran, so dass ich mich nie gelangweilt habe. (05.09.2023)

I have to say that I didn't expect much from this movie. After all, I thought that "Johnny English Reborn" would be just an ordinary nonsense trying to stupidly follow the first film. But in the end, I have to say that I am quite satisfied. The one who is mainly responsible for it is, of course, Rowan Atkinson. He is not as crazy as usual, although some scenes will directly remind you of classic Mr. Bean sketches, but the film is presented quite tastefully and it is very similar to the movie "Get Smart", with which it also has a very similar plot. To tell the truth, I would probably prefer "Smart" because Anne Hathaway played there as well. "Johnny English" shows that Rowan Atkinson still has comedic potential and that he can easily carry the whole film. He slaps his mom's boss and is not afraid to hit the British queen on the head with a tray. Yes, there are a lot of connections to the classic Mr. Bean. In addition to that, you will also get English, who is learning from monks. The film "Johnny English Reborn" doesn't bring anything revolutionary, it doesn't try to, but it is simply a pleasant reunion with an old acquaintance who is still as clueless, but manages to get out of every situation. The story is schematic, but in this case, it doesn't matter that much. You will be entertained if you survive a few scenes that you will find familiar and maybe unnecessarily stupid.
