Der junge Nick und das Mädchen Cassie verfügen über paranormale Fähigkeiten. Woher sie diese Begabung haben ist ihnen nicht klar. Sie wissen nur eins: Die Regierung ist seit ihrer Kindheit hinter ihnen her... Eine geheime Regierungseinheit namens „Division" jagt Menschen mit übersinnlichen Fähigkeiten. Sie will Experimente an ihnen durchführen und sie so zu perfekten Soldaten ausbilden. Nick und Cassie haben solche paranormalen Begabungen: Er kann Gegenstände mit seinen Gedanken bewegen, die 13-Jährige Cassie kann in die Zukunft sehen. Beide verachten die „Division", da die Agenten einst Nicks Vater töteten und Cassies Mutter entführten. Da Cassie eine Vision hatte, wie sie und Nick ein Mädchen finden, das eine geheime Droge von der „Division" gestohlen hat, machen sie sich zusammen auf die Suche nach ihr. Denn dieses unbekannte Mädchen kann nach Cassies Visionen die Verfolgung der paranormal Begabten beenden. (RTL II)

The first half is a decent pilot to a decent action sci-fi series, while the second half is a compilation of the following twelve episodes. It’s really too bad given the fact that McGuigan is one of the greatest talents of his generation. Not many people have such fancy visual treats (editing, cinematography). The biggest draw is probably just the fact that this is every pedophile’s dream come true - Dakota is fifteen, plays a thirteen-year-old and looks like neither age category. :) Beyond that, Chris is growing with every movie, Camilla looks pretty stupid, and Djimon is really starting to play his tough hunters all a bit too much the same.

This movie has its good moments, but overall it is on the weaker side of what has come out of the mutant genre. The story has more twists than a pretzel, not to mention occasional jumps into the past (the glass of beer and the toothbrush) and variously predicted futures. Luckily a really interesting group of actors comes together here and apart from that guy Evans, we occasionally see a drunk and very striking Dakota Fanning. These two spend the whole picture reeling off wisecracks and you can see that they really hit it off together. And I could watch Camilla Belle in any movie whenever you like. An extra star for the marvelous shots of Hong Kong. A high 3.
