Liz und ihre Freunde stechen mit einer Segelyacht in See, um zusammen einen Traum-Urlaub zu erleben. Vom Kurs abgekommen, geraten die Dinge jedoch außer Kontrolle: Das Schiff zerschellt an einem Riff und sie retten sich in letzter Minute auf eine verlassene Insel. Bearable and fairly good fun for a direct-to-video film. The script, naturally, relies on running around the jungle and the repeated jump-scares with the mutated monkeys, which by the end made me feel that the film could have easily been 45 minutes long, without the story missing anything (which would be true), but the entertainment index never drops below a critical limit and that hour and a half doesn’t hurt. Modern American horror is in such poor shape that I have to appreciate even something par for the course as this. The make-up of the mutants is quite good (given the possibilities), but they are shown a bit too often. Overall, I can’t really recommend The Forgotten Ones, but if you come across it by chance, it won’t make you suffer much.
