In 1962 the Lithuanian-American artist and designer George Maciunas spoke the words: "Let there be Fluxus!" Since that day, particularly the world of art has no longer been the same. As it happened, this moment marked the foundation of the most radical movement in the art world since World War II. The movement was referred to with the Latin word fluxus, which means liquid or fluent and is also known under the name Neo-Dadaism. The Fluxus-movement represents a conception of art that attaches more importance to notions like idea and concept than to skill and way of expression. This videofilm portrays a number of artists that belonged to the Fluxus-movement. A large section of the film was recorded in Venice in 1990. Many of the original Fluxus artists gathered here to set up an exhibition within the framework of the Biennial. Just like the Fluxus-movement itself, the documentary is unconventional. It utilizes the possibilities of manipulation enabled by video technology. The film contains interviews with a number of important Fluxus artists, like Eric Andersen, Yoko Ono and Nam June Paik, whose works are shown, too. (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam)
