Borat - das ist der Mann im grasgrünen String: Ein Reporter aus Kasachstan reist nach Amerika und verwirrt Land und Leute. Borat Sagdiyev wird vom kasachischen Informationsminister in die USA geschickt, um für seine Landsleute einen lehrreichen Film zur Verbesserung der eigenen Lebensqualität zu drehen. Aber der primitive Reporter stolpert von einem Fettnäpfchen ins nächste und sorgt für den einen oder anderen Gesichtsverlust. Die Darstellung eines sehr rückständigen Kasachstans sowie die bitterböse Demaskierung der zur Schau gestellten Amerikaner löste die unterschiedlichsten Reaktionen aus. (arte)
