Bei einem Flugzeugabsturz kommen sämtliche Spieler sowie die Trainer der Footballmannschaft der Marshall University ums Leben. Die Universitätsverwaltung ist nun geneigt, das Football-Programm zu beenden. Die wenigen Spieler, die nicht mit an Bord der Maschine waren, sowie alle Studenten wollen es jedoch nicht soweit kommen lassen. Mit Jack Lengyel wird ein neuer, junger Chef-Trainer engagiert, der in kürzester Zeit das Team wieder aufbauen und zu Siegen führen soll. (ProSieben MAXX)

The sympathetic ode to American football works thanks to three things. Fox's brilliantly sad face, McConaughey's enthusiastic expression, and McG's clip-like and inventive direction, which fits perfectly with the genre. Unfortunately, the screenplay is just a collection of clichés, where sad survivors utter suffering life wisdom ("You know, I was baptized here in Ohio?"), matches are won in the last second, and everyone who didn't want Marshall to try to return to the football carousel will eventually soften. The viewer won't find a single surprising moment here, but with the touching music in the background, those two hours will pass calmly. 70%
