Set in the milieu of an impending world war, an insouciant Filipino aristocrat family is oblivious of the forthcoming danger, scorning the Japanese capability. After the fall of Corregidor, all but the family patriarch evacuates to the mountains, where they will have to learn in a bad way that during war, all human beings are exactly the same.
