Simkó Alajos, a pharmacist, has just married Ács Klári, a poor tutoresse. Klári finds a diamond ring among the wedding presents, complete with farewell letter to thank her for all those happy hours of love. The husband, a man who has already planned every little thing ten years in advance, is in no mood to accept the idea of a coincidence. Outraged, he wants a divorce. Klári starts an investigation of her own to prove her innocence. She follows the trails, and finds the Pataky villa. Instructed by his parents to write a farewell letter, it was Pataky Pali who wrote it to Váry Gizella, an actress. Pali takes quite a liking to Klári, this nice young lady, and accompanies her to her husband's place to substantiate her innocence but eventually decides, in order to save her from the tyranny of a narrow-minded husband, to do the opposite, saying that it was Klári to whom he had written the letter. Simkó now having left, deeply offended, Pali proposes to Klári. (Verleiher-Text)
