Budai cukrászda

Kassay Ilonka, daughter of a former landowner in Bácska, is a shop-assistant in her father's small pastry shop in Buda. In order to get a job for her fiancé, who is a young doctor, she befriends Sziráky János, a painter and owner of the house. There are signs of a mutual attraction between them. The young girl means a kind of emotional renewal for the artist, a man apparently getting old. Ilonka also feels that there are hitherto undiscovered potentials for her and the chances of a new, beautiful life by having the artist beside her. Still, she decides to return to her fiancé and becomes a typical district doctor's wife in a small village. (Verleiher-Text)
