Two losers suddenly win big. National lottery big. After a quick brainstorming session they decide to spend the money that seemed to fall from the sky on air travel. They buy tickets for a domestic flight (because they don't have passports to go abroad) and take off. But one trip doesn't satisfy their appetites for adventure. They buy more tickets and invite two young ladies to join them. However, the girls seem to be more interested in flying than flirting... "The director focuses on the gap between the protagonists' expectations, their need for adventure and the social environment's maladjustment to fulfil those needs", wrote Polish film expert Tadeusz Lubelski. "On Cloud Nine" is also a comic tour-de-force by Poland's beloved on- and off-screen duo: Jan Himilsbach and Zdzisław Maklakiewicz. (Warsaw Film Festival)
