Nach einem blutigen Feuergefecht muss sich Wyatt Earp, Marshal in Tombstone, zusammen mit seinem Freund Doc Holliday und seinen Brüdern Virgil und Morgan vor Gericht verantworten. Bandenboss Ike Clanton will dem Marshal damit heimzahlen, dass Wyatt Earp mit seinen Gefährten einige Männer der Clanton-Bande erschossen hat. Obwohl Clanton schon einigen Einfluss in Tombstone hat, geht seine Rechnung nicht auf. Wyatt Earp und die anderen werden freigesprochen. Für Clanton ist das ein Grund mehr, alles zu versuchen, um seine Position in der Stadt auszubauen. Als ein neuer Marshal gewählt werden soll, lässt er einen seiner Gefolgsmänner gegen Virgil Earp kandidieren. Bald zeigt sich jedoch, dass Virgil das Rennen machen wird. Daraufhin lauern Clantons Leute Virgil Earp auf und schießen ihn zum Krüppel. Später töten sie auch hinterrücks Morgan Earp, als sich dieser an Virgils Stelle um das Marshal-Amt bewirbt. Zum Marshal der Bundespolizei ernannt, nimmt Wyatt Earp nunmehr zusammen mit Doc Holliday die Verfolgung der Mörder auf. Die Haftbefehle gegen sie dienen ihm letztlich nur als Vorwand, um Rache zu nehmen. (BR Fernsehen)
