Eine Serie von bizarren Morden hält den FBI-Veteranen Joe Merriwether (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) und seine ambitionierte Partnerin Katherine Cowles (Abbie Cornish) auf Trab. Am Ende ihrer Weisheit angekommen, bitten sie den einsiedlerischen Psychoanalytiker Dr. Clancy (Anthony Hopkins) um Hilfe und hoffen, dessen intuitive Kräfte für sich nutzen zu können. Clancys aufrüttelnde Visionen führen zwar auf die Spur des Serienkillers (Colin Farrell), doch er muss einsehen, dass all seine übernatürlichen Begabungen kaum ausreichen, um den Mörder zu stoppen. Huge potential and a fantastic cast. An original idea, but a deficient screenplay. The director is evidently cheap, his would-be modern approaches don’t suit the gloomy and mysterious nature of the story. If only someone like Fincher or Fukunaga had got their hands on this. Even so, it’s quite a pleasant watch and Hopkins is excellent as always.

I felt like watching a decent mystery thriller that was basically butchered by the director. Starting with a shaky camera and ending with the director’s dictations proving that despite the movie’s mystery core, Anthony Hopkins’s clairvoyant abilities are strange. Touching a person and seeing his future or past is one thing but touching a strand of grass and seeing a whole scene from a few days ago is a little over the top. And that is coming from a person who usually enjoys this genre.

It's such a great, quite well-thought-out, which is somewhat expected because when you have such a variety of actors, and there are really plenty of them, you can't just come up with a bad movie. However, two actors stand out so much that they captivate you more than the story itself, which plays with the viewer a bit. Anthony Hopkins and Colin Farrell prove their abilities.
