Arslan has two qualities that make it unique among anime fantasy tales. While the world in which it takes place is one where magic obviously exists, said magic is of an extremely limited nature. Until the end of the anime, the only magical happenings involve a few rare occasional spells and a giant, humanoid monster. There are none of the races typically associated with a fantasy realm, such as elves or dwarves. It is, at the core, a war story taking place between human nations. In addition to this, there is an underlying theme of exploring the repercussions of slavery on a society, having an absolute monarch who treats the poor as cattle, and religious obsession. Ich beschloss die kommende Anime-Staffel ein wenig zu Spoilern und schaute erst diese Serie, um mir ein Bild vom neu erschienenen gleichnamigen Anime zu machen. Ich muss sagen, dass die Geschichte nicht schlecht ist und teilweise recht interessant war. Die Animation hat nichts blendendes, aber sie ist etwas über zwanzig Jahre alt, also kann man darüber hinweg schauen. Die Musik hat mir gut gefallen. Leider kam ich mit den Charakteren nicht allzu gut zurecht und Gieve war wahrscheinlich der einzige, den ich wirklich mochte. Die Tatsache, dass mich weder Arslan noch Daryun begeistert haben, führt dazu, dass diese Folge von mir nicht mehr als 3* verdient hat und ich mich umso mehr auf die aktuell vorgestellte Version konzentrieren werde, wo mir beide bisher genannten Charaktere ganz gut gefallen...
