"Planet Erde" präsentiert eine spektakuläre Reise durch Meere, Wüsten, Berge und Wälder. Die von Alastair Fothergill produzierte Serie zeigt bisher nie da gewesene Bilder. Die Dreharbeiten dauerten fünf Jahre, 40 Kamerateams drehten an 200 unterschiedlichen Orten. This and Meerkat Manor are two of the best documentaries I have ever seen.

I bow in unbounded respect to David Attenborough, the famous biologist and probably the greatest populariser of natural history documentaries, for his life's work, and I hope he will continue to grace us with many more such gems. Here he is in the position of a "mere" scriptwriter and narrator, i.e. not in direct interaction with animals, as is usual with him, but this does not diminish the final impression. Impressive and beautiful in every second and I haven't seen the much hyped HD version yet.
