One of the first box-office successes of Mexico's Golden Era was the film Over at the Big Ranch, a film hailed by historians as the vanguard of the Mexican "Charro"-movie genre which concentrated upon singing cowboys, golden-hearted bandits and fair senoritas. Popular radiosinger Guizar is cast as the itinerant ranch-hand Jose Francisco who falls in love in sprite of himself with duckling-turned-swan Cruz (Esther Fernandez). (Verleiher-Text)
