Most of her colleagues take Kádár Mária, the new teacher to be a communist party-worker, only Irma and the drawing teacher Ács Zoli treat her kindly. Mária starts working with great enthusiasm, and her class learns to love her in a short time. Kati, Zoli's daughter, is outright devoted to her new teacher. Zoli falls in love with Mária, but at first she refuses him. Later they unite in love. Kati discovers their secret relationship, and her disappointment in both her father and her teacher is great. Mária is offered a prestigious job in the country. Zoli wants to divorce his wife and marry Mária. His unsuspecting wife, Erzsi asks Mária's help, as her daughter's head-master, to solve the family crisis. Mária visits Kati and asks her to believe in honesty and in the school. She sacrifices her love and accepts the position in the country. She says good-bye to nobody and leaves the school without a word. (Verleiher-Text)
