Als die winzige und bezaubernde Däumeline den Elfen-Prinzen Cornelius kennenlernt, ist es Liebe auf den ersten Blick. Doch bevor sie ihn wiedersehen kann, wird sie von der bösen Kröte Delores entführt und in ein Varieté verschleppt. Dort soll sie nun jeden Abend singen, da sie eine wunderschöne Stimme hat. Versteckt in einem Schuh kann sie jedoch fliehen. Viele Abenteuer und Gefahren erwarten Däumeline auf ihrer Reise. Die Hoffnung, Cornelius wiederzusehen lässt sie aber über sich hinauswachsen.
