It! The Terror from Beyond Space

Es konnte so ein Schwarz-weiß Vorläufer des Alien-Films sein. Das Potenzial war jedenfalls da. Das Drehbuch ist jedoch fade und an einigen Stellen so dumm, dass es den Film unterdurchschnittlich macht. Wenn die Charaktere gerade keine schrecklichen Dialoge führen, rennen sie verwirrt durch die nicht sehr geräumige Rakete, werfen Granaten und schießen mit Panzerabwehrwaffen um sich. Obwohl es sich um ein Team von Wissenschaftlern handelt, verhalten sie sich impulsiv wie kleine Kinder. Keine Spannung. Die Maske des Marsmenschen, die verdächtig ähnlich dem Seemonster ähnelt, trägt auch nicht viel dazu bei. (31.05.2018)

Ein sympathisch kurzer Science-Fiction-Film, in dem ständig etwas passiert. Man sieht sogar die Bemühungen der Autoren, die Figuren zu charakterisieren. Die Situationen selbst und die Schauspielaktion (d. h. die Regie) sind aber so schlecht, dass der ganze Film ein B-Niveau hat. Schade, dass die Schauspieler*innen so aussehen, als ob sie auf dem Schiff ein Huhn hätten. Zusammen mit dem Regisseur haben sie das ziemlich solide Drehbuch zerstört. (17.02.2003)

Good classic of the B-movie genre. It's a sci-fi where one beast is lurking on Mars and preying on humans. I have to say, I really liked the depiction of the alien. It looks genuinely terrifying for its time, although it does have some elements of the creature from the Black Lagoon. The plot is quite classic, but it incorporates claustrophobia and other elements that make this film quite action-packed and interesting. (14.07.2014)

At least as endearingly naive and entertaining as Ed Wood's greatest hits. A rescue expedition flies to Mars to retrieve a stranded crew, only to discover on the way back to Earth that they have a Martian on board. This unleashes a ruthless and thrilling fight for survival :). The alien itself is about as frightening as Alf. It is terribly funny to see an actor dressed in a kind of sackcloth, with a mask on his head, waving his paws and running around the deck like a madman. Not only is it unearthly strong, but its scratch infects humans with a bacillus that instantly causes leukemia. Facing it, there’s the crew armed with pistols and rifles. There are also traps with grenades and even an anti-tank gun (in a rocket, lol) There are lots of memorable moments, including walking on the rocket's shell with magnetic boots as the actors feign weightlessness, as well as incredibly banal dialogues, terrible acting, funny visual effects; in short, a joy to watch. And most importantly, you don’t get bored for a second, it’s royal fun. (28.09.2003)
