Incident in an Alley

Based on a story by Rod Serling, this intriguing crime melodrama begins when police officer Warfield is called to investigate a music store robbery. As he passes an alley he hears a woman scream and sees a figure running away. After shouting a warning he raises his gun and fires, killing a 14-year-old boy. Later it appears that the kid had merely bumped into the woman and knocked her down. Warfield is brought to trial and acquitted but is still a pariah among his fellow officers. Warfield then learns from the dead boy's brother that the kid actually was involved in the robbery, information that restores the cop's reputation. An interesting "Twilight Zone"-style thriller.
