Maja ist eine kleine Biene, die gerade erst geboren wurde. Gemeinsam mit ihrem Freund Willi erkundet sie die Umgebung und trifft schon bald auf den Grashüpfer Flip und die Stubenfliege Puck. Doch es lauern auch Gefahren auf die jungen Freunde. Vor allem die Spinne Thekla hat es auf die Kleinen abgesehen und versucht permanent, sie mit ihrer Fiedel in ihr Netz zu locken. In fast jeder Folge schließt Maja neue Bekanntschaften oder muss sich und andere aus bedrohlichen Situationen retten. (Warner Bros. DE)

Just as adults need soap operas in their lives to have something to blame their partners for when they don't feel like having sex, parents need Maya the Bee to temporarily get rid of their offspring as evidence of the failure of their parenting methods. That is the better side of multi-part fairy tale series like Maya. Unfortunately, in terms of screenplay quality, pace, dialogues, and drawn-out length, it is not glorious, and it cannot be saved even by excellent dubbing from the time when it was not yet ruined by haste and commercialism. Because I don't let myself get carried away by nostalgia, the overall rating remains at 45%.
