Die junge Elly ist zur falschen Zeit am falschen Ort. Mitten in der Borrego-Wüste eilt sie einem abgestürzten Flugzeug zu Hilfe und erkennt zu spät die Gefahr. Der verletzte Pilot ist ein Drogenkurier und zwingt sie zu einem höllischen Marsch unter der brennenden Sonne Kaliforniens, um doch noch zu seinem Übergabeort zu kommen.
