Zurück in die Zukunft

Die 80er Jahre, der Höhepunkt der Zusammenarbeit von Spielberg / Zemeckis… Maximal unterhaltsam, einfallsreich, intelligent, kultiviert witzig, mit gefühlvoll dargestellten tiefen Gedanken. Ein Film, der den Begriffen "Popcorn" oder "(Ultra)Happyend" keine Schande macht. Warum werden heutzutage nicht mehr solche Filme gedreht? Warum leben wir in einer so depressiven Zeit? Diesen Film habe ich bis jetzt nicht gekannt. Wenn ich ihn in seiner Entstehungszeit bewertet hätte, hätte ich ihm 5* gegeben. (03.11.2008)

Hätte ich den Film zum ersten Mal in meiner Teenagerzeit gesehen, als ich solche Beute in Vielfraß-Manier verschlang, wären es wohl klare fünf Sterne gewesen. Leider bin ich erst letzte Woche zu Zemeckis' legendärem Science-Fiction-Film gelangt, was meine Begeisterung schmälert. Die Geschichte ist sehr lustig, einige der Gags und Situationen sind sehr gut, aber ich bin etwas gelangweilt von dem "Teenage Spirit" und der unverkennbaren Ästhetik der 80-er Jahre, die ich wirklich nicht mag. Die beiden Hauptfiguren sind wirklich gut, und das Spiel mit dem Einfluss vergangener Handlungen auf zukünftige Dinge macht Spaß. Ein sehr guter Hybrid mit einer guten Idee und einem guten Drehbuch. Aber alternd... da kann man nichts machen. (19.09.2006)

One great thing has happened to me with this review, and I might be the only one among you. I am evaluating without any emotion, as it is only now that I have seen this film – in 2011. So no nostalgia. This film is very silly. If someone were to make something like this today, they would be crucified. Even Pirates of the Caribbean, silly as it is, is a little bit better than this (and it is also nonsense, by the way). (14.08.2011)

It's been almost thirty years, but this sci-fi adventure comedy still holds its place among the genre's elite, and there's no sign of that changing. After all, it's not every day that such an original, entertaining and perfectly thought-out script is born in the minds of screenwriters, even under the guidance of directorial wizards like Robert Zemeckis and Steven Spielberg. Just great, I can't but praise it. The visuals are stunning even after all these years, the unravelling of the story is simply flawless, and the duo of M.J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd were probably born for this legendary three-part series, and the way the creators dealt with the bar they set for the second part is truly incredible. 100% (29.09.2012)

Ich habe Zurück in die Zukunft vielleicht zu lange hinausgezögert, denn zum heutigen Tag (d. h. zum 08.04.2021) habe ich schon einige Zeitreisefilme gesehen, so dass mich Zemeckis' bahnbrechender Film nicht so sehr beeindruckt hat wie das damalige Publikum. Das soll nicht heißen, dass mir "Martys Reise in die Vergangenheit und zurück" nicht gefallen hat, ganz im Gegenteil. Ich mochte das Bühnenbild und das Konzept der 50er Jahre und sogar den Stil der 80er Jahre, zu dem man in Filmen gerne zurückkehrt (egal, ob es die Zeit der Geschichte oder die Produktionszeit des Films ist). Die High-School-Linie überrascht nicht, aber es war urkomisch, die Konfrontation zwischen den 50er-Jahre-Schülern und dem 80er-Jahre-Kind zu beobachten, das einfach drei Jahrzehnte "weiter" war. Neben der Science-Fiction-Comedy-Linie hat mich der Film auch durch seine Action angesprochen, vor allem im letzten Viertel. Von den Schauspielern hat mich der alberne Christopher Lloyd am meisten amüsiert, aber auch die anderen hatten etwas zu bieten - der "moderne" Michael J. Fox, die kokette, sinnliche Lea Thompson oder der angenehm unbeholfene Crispin Glover. Das Einzige, was mich gestört hat, war die sichtbare Maskierung der Schauspieler/Figuren. Ansonsten war ich mit dem Film zufrieden, auch wenn ich seine Qualitäten und seinen Kultstatus nicht in vollem Umfang zu würdigen vermochte. (08.04.2021)

I like the admitted value connection here between the 50s and the 80s, where you're actually fighting for position in the bourgeois suburbs, not breaking out of it. Back to the Future is actually a Reaganesque ode to neighborhood and conservative certainties, where one can twist one's entire life in the right direction with a well-timed punch, while keeping one's integrity in check, and if there's one thing to rely on, it's science. Oh, and they're taking the invention of rock 'n' roll away from black people, which is actually fucking hilarious nowadays. I totally understand how seductive it must have been at the time and actually is now, especially since the movie has such perfect sequences (the concert!), exuberant acting (Lloyd!), and a great script. Value-wise, though, it's as much a guilty pleasure for me to watch the film as it is to be entertained by constructivist or normalization films. (10.05.2021)

Once again, I went back in time to remind myself, after about thirty years (since the last time I saw the film), how Marty McFly went thirty years back in time and then returned thirty years into the future. The fact is, the movie didn't have the same impact on me as it did decades ago, and I blame that mainly on the passing of time, which changes my perception of the world. And even though I must admit that one of the reasons I like the movie is nostalgia, it's true that I still thoroughly enjoyed it today because Michael J. Fox portrayed the main character brilliantly. I much prefer Christopher Lloyd as a slightly unhinged visionary rather than Uncle Fester. To sum it up, the film has flaws, given its age, but there aren't enough to spoil my overall impression. / Lesson learned: Always put your name on your underwear. 5* (24.06.2023)

The film is based on the idea that it is possible to change our present by changing our past. Causality is respected here, of course, for the purposes of the screenplay, but in this case, it doesn't matter at all because it works perfectly. Additionally, there are two actors who give the film its soul. Michael J. Fox is an actor who you can't help but like, and Christopher Lloyd and his character Emmett Brown are so wonderfully eccentric that he has become a literal iconic mad scientist. Directed by Robert Zemeckis, this is truly a well-thought-out film that will entertain you, even if you're not a big fan of sci-fi. Among other things, Zemeckis shows what he has always excelled at - special effects sequences. They are truly well done, and one wouldn't even believe that the film is almost thirty years old. I was completely unnecessary in my fear of the film because it is really a great example of what fun and intelligent sci-fi can look like. (19.11.2013)
