Wolf Creek (2005)
Surprisingly pretty boring. Little fear, few scares and unfortunately little violence. Plus John Jarratt is pretty ridiculous as a sadistic killer.
Die letzten Glühwürmchen (1988)
Either I'm a total cynic or I don't know, but this film, despite some of its undeniable qualities, struck me as a vulgar emotional blackmail that was laughable at times. Quite often, actually.
Geralt von Riva - Der Hexer (2001)
The Hexer redefined the term "bad movie". At the beginning, the screening room was packed. When I woke up halfway through, there were 12 people left, and the fact that it was in Polish without subtitles had nothing to do with it.
Underworld (2003)
A film that is the biggest disappointment of the year for me personally. The fact that the touted story of Romeo and Juliet in the world of vampires and werewolves never happens wouldn't matter so much, but an action horror film with entirely unimaginative and static action and without a single thrilling moment is already a problem. On top of that, the acting is mediocre, the make-up effects are crap, the script, besides being pretty simple, has tons of logical errors and the direction is very subpar. It's a shame, because with its premise it could have been so much more.
Full Contact (1992)
A very good, but also very rough film, which lacks only a little more original story to get the maximum rating.
Infernal Affairs - Die achte Hölle (2002)
Internal Affairs offers everything that every five-star film should have. A gripping story, well-written and well acted characters, good music and great direction. It would be a mistake not to it.
Scarface (1983)
Thanks to Brian De Palma and the always excellent Al Pacino, the 170 minutes went by much faster than I would have expected.
The Musketeer (2001)
Poorly written and directed crap that is kept afloat by the quality choreography of the fight scenes.
Rat Race - Der nackte Wahnsinn (2001)
After a long time, a comedy that really made me laugh out loud. The "Barbie museum" and "veterans reunion" jokes are brilliant. I'm sure there are a few things the film could be faulted for, but the fun makes up for any potential shortcomings.
James Bond - Stirb an einem anderen Tag (2002)
A very effective Bond film. It's got action, humour and pizzazz. Only the theme tune was, to put it politely, bad.
