My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox (2010) (Serie)

Englisch The central couple is very pretty, plus Shin Min-A is very cute in her role as the vixen. It's cute, relaxing, funny, simply standard equipment for Korean screens. Definitely slightly above average. A strong 3 stars.

Pandayanggwa goseumdochi (2012) (Serie)

Englisch I really like these fairy tale stories. I really disliked the main character in the beginning, but that settled down over time and I found the series perfectly relaxing. Yes, even then she got on my nerves, but it was beautifully balanced by all the other relationships. Plus, the people acted kind of reasonable, kind of human, each one was different, and I even shed a tear with them towards the end. I really liked that it wasn't a terrible drama, but a really peaceful affair where there weren't huge twists and turns. Admittedly, with the last episode I was expecting Dad to run in with a knife and take Grandpa's kidney, but thankfully it turned out a little differently in the end. This imperfect thing absolutely suited my mood. I had fun. 4 stars by a hair.

Paradaiseu mokjang (2011) (Serie)

Englisch I'm stuck on the fourth episode and can't bring myself to keep watching. The heroine is presented as the ultimate genius, but her behavior is that of a grade school girl, the biggest dork imaginable, and the whole situation didn’t amuse me. Even the performances didn't draw me in, quite the opposite. EDIT: It's so boring. The story drags on like a bad smell, the actors act like sleepwalkers, like they're not even enjoying it, as if they’re telling themselves it's not even worth trying. Just the same thing over and over again. Even the music can't elevate it to two stars. I didn't find, didn't see, didn't hear a single thing that could pull it up there, so I have to rate it with just the one. I don't recommend it. If you want to see former spouses reunited after XY years apart, you're better off watching Emergency Couple (a tad better), or Cunning Single Lady, which I liked about a hundred times better.

Komapseumnida (2007) (Serie)

Englisch It's not a bad series, but it would be much better as a movie. It seems to me that it consisted entirely of fluff-fluff-fluff-fluff-fluff-interesting scene-fluff-fluff-fluff-fluff. It's sad, but even then it didn't really grab me by the heart, the acting and the characters weren't very interesting, and overall the whole thing was just about average, and I admit I skipped some scenes because they were boring. I'm not going to hype it up just because there's a little girl who has AIDS and she and her whole family have rough time of it. The portrayal didn't sit well with me; like I said, if this were a movie I'm sure it would be a blast, but this way it's a bland, watery porridge. Plus, I was really annoyed with the way the girl was always bawling. A very very weak 3 stars.

Yiootjib kkotminam (2013) (Serie)

Englisch It sounded so interesting, but in the end it wasn't very interesting. Park Shin-Hye always acts the same way, so you won't see anything new with her. The boys are fine, so at least they're something to watch, but even so they don't do anything spectacular, and unfortunately the script doesn't allow them to develop anything – either their characters or their acting skills. It's so shallow and bland. There are better romances, hikikomori stories, and acting performances out there, Castaway on the Moon comes to mind. And what was the best thing about it? The hysterical editor.

Shineui (2012) (Serie)

Englisch This is really bad. I didn't see that coming. I didn't go into it with any expectations, even though everyone is touting it so highly, so I shouldn't be disappointed, but I am. 24 episodes of nothing. The beginning of the episodes were just a few minutes of recaps of what we'd already seen. The scenery was really bad, the effects were bad too (and I don't understand why they had to have supernatural powers in there in the first place, it had no purpose or explanation or anything). The actors didn't show much, because there was nothing to show. The script is really, really bad. The director didn't really pull it off either. It keeps jumping back and forth, changing things up so they can keep repeating the same things over and over again. I don't understand why it has 24 episodes. I don't understand how Lee Min-Ho can play a military strategist who would have been at least in his thirties at the time. There are a lot of things I don't get about this series, like all the pointless and empty dialogue. Even my elementary school sister could have come up with better plots and "twists" for this. Judging by the ratings it had, it's pretty clear that even the Koreans could see the shtick in it. Very boring, uninteresting, and if I hadn't skipped some of the scenes, I might have had to commit seppuku. I may be a serial masochist, but this was really over the top at times. There are only three things I can appreciate about it: the nice relationship between the king and queen (I've read about them, and the general, in real life, so that was pretty cool); the scene where Eun Soo tells the queen she's sorry, she can't examine her because she didn't specialize in gynecology (if you know your history, that's probably the most successful scene); and lastly the music that always played when something spectacular was happening, like when the general was walking and his subordinates trailed after him. Unfortunately, I rate the OST overall as rather average. A very, very weak 2 stars. Love is great, but not in Ko-ryū.

Zui Hou Jue Ding Ai Shang Ni (2011) (Serie)

Englisch I really like the idea of two strangers getting together, slowly getting to know each other, and slowly feeling something for each other until it grows into love. An awesome, beautiful fairy tale. So I was looking forward to it; unfortunately, this series has been a terrible disappointment. It's basically a show about bickering and unnatural twists and screenwriting crutches that don't fit the plot, but are there to stretch it and make it dramatic. Unfortunately, I'm not buying it. Plus, I didn't even feel like there was any proper chemistry between the leads that would have pulled the weak script into something better and watchable. I kind of don't understand the point of this piece's existence, in my opinion we could have lived without it, the Earth would keep turning and I would have saved myself a few hours of clicking and searching for interesting scenes that unfortunately didn't come. It's hokey, but not in a nice way that you can watch and smile at. I didn't like it; if it were food, it would stink, look disgusting, and even the taste would be pretty unappealing. I don't think they'd even sell it in McDonald’s. Sadly, a total disappointment, one of the worst Taiwanese series I've ever seen.

Heartbeat Love (2012)

Englisch A bit of a long commercial, but again, there's plenty of room for product placement. So I guess it's nice, but it's incredibly shallow – what do you want from a commercial, right? – and shot on a terrible camera. Even the music isn't as likeable as it tries to make you believe. Let alone the performances of the leads. The best part was the piano at the beginning.

Miss Rose (2013) (Serie)

Englisch Tedious. But finally, a couple who bickers, but in a good way. It is more or less free of stupid misunderstandings. But the ending is really idiotic. Still, as a light refreshment it's okay, as a romance too. Kind of an ok average.

Šicuren Chocolatier (2014) (Serie)

Englisch A drawn out ordeal. I didn't really like the beginning, when he was doing it with Erena it was probably the best part of the whole series, but then the rest of it, and especially the end... nope nope. Somehow we didn't get along with this series – and it has MatsuJun and chocolate, of which chocolate came out victorious in the end; somehow I didn't like Jun here, either his acting or his character. There was a funny scene here and there, but overall it was a big disappointment (and it still made me munch on chocolate, how many pounds did I put on while watching it?! :-D). The supporting characters weren't great either. The best one for me was Satô Ryûta's character, and that's a bit weak considering how much he (doesn't) appear. Biggest waste of time of the whole 2014 winter season.
