About Love (2005)

Englisch So this one didn't move me much, unfortunately. I couldn't empathize with the characters at all. Mostly because of that I was quite bored. The first story does have a concept and is slightly above average, but it still didn't mess with my head like a lot of Asian movies can. The middle one is erratic and got on my nerves at times. The last one is uncomfortably fragile and melancholic. As a whole, 2.5 stars. I expected more.

Freunde mit gewissen Vorzügen (2011)

Englisch The combination of the beautiful Mila and the likeable Justin is incredibly great. At times (often, actually) they looked really charming together. And Justin Timberlake finally showed that he can act. The whole plot is engaging and full of fresh jokes and situations. It didn't lack naturalness and flair. Unexpectedly, it also beats Kutcher and Portman for me. I'm tempted to overrate it for the sake of cuteness alone; 4.5 stars.

Nae sarang (2007)

Englisch I'm going to stop telling myself that I don't like movies that tell multiple stories. I've never been able to get into them, but lately I've been blown away by all of them. And this one is the absolute best for me. The individual fates are so interesting that each one could be the subject of its own feature film. So it's clear that when you put all the stories together, it's impossible for a person like me not to shed a tear... tears. I cried a lot, I laughed a lot, and I am smitten. A resounding 5 stars.

Donggam (2000)

Englisch Whatever they intended it to be, I couldn’t find any romance. As a drama, though, it works very well. The plot is quite unpredictable and catchy, so there's no time for boredom. The music and some of the dialogue were really nice to listen to. Ji-won Ha and Ha-neul already had charm back then... I just can't say who had more. Casually beautiful, 4 stars.

Die Geisha (2005)

Englisch Every once in a while a movie caresses me and makes the next few days more beautiful for me. Memoirs of a Geisha is one of them. The sight of the graceful movements and gait of the geishas blew me away so much that I wished I was one for a while. Ziyi Zhang always looks fragile and influential at the same time in front of the camera. That's why she was absolutely perfect as Sayuri. Of course, praise is also due to the other actors, as I didn't notice any unnatural overacting. I am pleasantly surprised... 4.5 stars.

Shinbu sueob (2004)

Englisch A beautiful, clean story complemented by imaginative and light humor. I was smiling the whole time and more than a bit moved at the end. Ji-won Ha and Sang-woo Kwon handled their roles perfectly. And as a couple, they couldn't have been better. For me, a very watchable film that didn't bore me for a moment. 4.5 stars.

Kunsträuber küsst man nicht - My Mom's New Boyfriend (2008)

Englisch It's hard to say if classifying this in the comedy genre is correct. I didn't laugh too many times, but as a movie it's not completely below average. Despite the awful transparency and one cliché after another, it isn't lacking for ideas. The cast works like honey on ants. This makes the viewer all the more disappointed by the mediocre performances. I especially didn't like Meg Ryan in her role. A stronger 3 stars.

My Name Is Khan (2010)

Englisch A film that stays in my head for hours after watching it. I remember the beautiful words and the amazing performance by Khan. I too see some connections to Forrest Gump here. The length definitely didn't bother me because from the beginning on there was always something to watch. I was emotionally affected by many situations throughout the film. The ending, on the other hand, was a little disappointing. 5 stars.

Happy New Year (2011)

Englisch I'd like to give it 5 stars because I was got carried away by the atmosphere and felt great while watching it. There was no shortage of funny moments and the charm of pure romance. And since it's the end of the year, one can forgive the many clichés and (un)wise speeches. The individual stories are engaging... some less, some more. My favorite was the duel over a midnight childbirth and the incredibly cute Zac Efron with the fantastic Michelle Pfeiffer. The stellar Lea Michele and Aston Kutcher were also good together. The final bloopers and blunders entertained me the most. And it was that moment that brought everyone in the theater together. 4 stars.

Sundays at Tiffany's (2010) (Fernsehfilm)

Englisch An unexpectedly charming film that, while slightly predictable, is still original in its own way. The atmosphere at Tiffany's, the Christmas and love... ahhh! It's irresistible! I had to watch it twice in one month. It's an hour and a half long, but it seems like it's only a few minutes long. Plus the child cast was great. I was already blown away by the first scene. It made me melt... 4.5 stars and after the second viewing I'm leaning towards 5 stars. A very enjoyable film.
