Luis García Berlanga

He studied law and philosophy and literature, and later attended the Instituto de Investigaciones y Experiencias Cinematográficas in Madrid. He was named one of the ten most relevant filmmakers in the world at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival. He received the Prince of Asturias Prize in the Arts (1986), the Golden Medal in Fine Arts (1981), the National Cinematography Award (1980) and was honored with the Italian Order of Commendatore.
