Biografie

Miranda Tapsell was born in Darwin. She is of Aboriginal descent and her people are the Larrakia. Miranda grew up in Kakadu National Park. She began performing at the age of seven when she joined a tap dancing group. At 13, her parents enrolled her into her first of many Summer Short Courses at NIDA in Sydney.

Miranda completed high school in Darwin, with drama as a major subject. She also performed with Corrugated Iron Youth Arts, a local youth drama group and in 2004, at just 16, she won the Bell Shakespeare Regional Performance Scholarship with the Bell Shakespeare ensemble. Miranda graduated from NIDA in 2008 and has performed in several theatre productions, including the leading role in Company B Belvoir Street and the Malthouse Theatre production of Yibiyung, directed by Wesley Enoch.
