Biografie

GABRIELLE ALLAN started writing at age 24, after her grandfather, screenwriter Ted Allan (Lies My Father Told Me) read her first screenplay and told her he was relieved it was good because she was a bad actress. (Allan had studied theatre at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts NYC)

Allan was part of a sketch comedy troupe, It‟s Funny Until Someone Loses An Eye, with Nicole Sullivan and David Strickland, in which she wrote and performed her own material. But it wasn't until Allan sat in a room full of guys (and one woman) eating Chinese food in their sweat pants until two o'clock in the morning, that she wanted to write for TV. Her first job, Ask Harriet, was about a cross-dressing advice columnist. Allan went on to write for Jesse, starring Christina Applegate, from the people that brought you Friends. After two years it was canceled and she luckily landed on the series Scrubs, where she stayed for four years and was nominated for one Emmy.

After giving birth to her first child, Ted, Allan wrote a pilot for CBS, Welcome to the Jungle Gym, starring Teri Polo, about Allan's own struggles juggling career and motherhood. She went on to be executive producer/showrunner of the pilot Miss Guided for ABC, written by Caroline Williams, starring Judy Greer.

After having her second child, Sam, Allan realized it was finally time to pursue her dream of writing features and partnered up with Jennifer Crittenden (Seinfeld, Everybody Loves Raymond). Since collaborating on WHAT'S YOUR NUMBER, they have worked on Shrek: The Final Chapter, and Disco, a remake of the French film, for Sony and Original films.
