Colm Bairéad

He already began making short films as a teenager and later studied film and broadcasting at the Dublin Institute of Technology. His first short after graduating, His Father’s Son (2005), was an international festival success. In 2012, he co-founded the Inscéal production company with Cleona Ní Chrualaoi. He has directed films such as the documentary drama The Maamtrasna Murders (2018) or Women of the Revolution (2015). The Quiet Girl, his first fiction feature film, won the Generation Kplus International Grand Jury Prize for Best Film at the Berlin Film Festival and the Audience awards at the Dublin and Taipei festivals.
