After graduating from Kazakhstani National Academy of Cinema as a film director Askhat Kuchinchirekov started out his career as a lead cast for Sergey Dvortsevoi’s “Tulpan” (2008) which won Prix Un Certain Regard at the 61st Cannes Film Festival. As an actor and director’s assistant, Askhat contributed to Sergey Dvortsevoy’s “Ayka” (2018) which was In Competition under The Official Selection at the 71st Cannes Film Festival and shortlisted for Best Foreign Language Film at the 91st Academy Awards. The short film “Gas is Over” (2013) directed by Askhat Kuchinchirekov was acclaimed as the best short film at the 2013 Dubai
International Film Festival.
