Gabriela Retes has directed, produced, edited and acted, besides writing five screenplays, and co-writing three feature screenplays. El bulto, a film she starred in, and Bienvenido-Welcome, both co-written by her, won numerous awards at international festivals. The latter one earned Gabriela a nomination for the Ariel Award and a Diosa de Plata Award for best screenplay. She worked as an associate producer in the docu-drama Calling London (dir. Gabriel Beristain) for the BBC in London, as assistant director in Piedras verdes (dir. Ángel Flores Torres) and editor in numerous commercials and videoclips for bands like Café Tacuba.
