Biografie

Rodrigo Cortés began directing short films as a teenager. In 1998, his short film Yul won nearly 20 awards in Spain. His mockumentary 15 días (2001) became the most awarded short film in the history of Spanish cinema. He premiered his first feature film, Concursante (2007), in Malaga, where it received the Critics' Prize for Best Film. Buried, his second film, shocked critics and audiences around the world after its presentation at Sundance in 2010. It received ten nominations for the Goya, Sant Jordi, Forqué and Mèlies d'Or awards, among others. His next film, Red Lights (2012), starring Robert de Niro, Sigourney Weaver and Cillian Murphy, was released in over 60 countries. In 2018 he released Blackwood, starring Uma Thurman and Anna Sophia Robb. He has also published several books of short stories, novels and essays.
