Biografie

Henckel von Donnersmarck leaped to world fame with his first film The Lives of Others (2006), with which he won a multitude of awards including the Oscar and the BAFTA for Best Foreign Language Film, the EFA Best Film Award and the Audience Award in Locarno. Previously, he studied Russian Literature and did a master in Philosophy, Politics and Economics at New College, Oxford. He also has a diploma in film direction from the University of Television and Film in Munich. He directed several award-winning short films, and after his first feature film he made The Tourist, with Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp, nominated for three Golden Globes. His film Obra sin autor won the Arca Cinema Giovanni Award and the Leoncino d’Oro Agiscuola Awards at Venice.
