Director, screenwriter, programmer: Pierre Rissient is a fundamental figure in the global cinematic landscape. He founded the cinephile collective Mac Mahon in Paris, served as Jean-Luc Godard’s assistant on Breathless (1960) and as an artistic advisor for the Cannes Film Festival, and directed two feature films, Alibis (1977) and Five and the Skin (1982). He received UNESCO’s Fellini medal and was the subject of multiple documentaries, including Man of Cinema: Pierre Rissient (Todd McCarthy, 2007). He passed away on May 6, 2018.
