Biografie

Director, screenwriter, and producer of Machuca (2004), one of the most widely seen and awarded Chilean films, which premiered at the Directors' Fortnight at Cannes. Other of his films include Historias de Futbol (1997), Jury Mention as New Director at the San Sebastian Film Festival; La Fiebre del Loco (2001), Official Selection at Venice; La Buena Vida (2008), winner of the Goya for Best Foreign Language Film; and Violeta se Fue a los Cielos, which won the Grand Jury Prize for World Cinema Drama at Sundance 2012. His film Araña (2019) premiered at Toronto 2019 and won at FICG 2020. He produced seven seasons of Los 80, Chile's most popular television series. He has also created series for streaming, such as Ecos del Desierto, Ramona (director, screenwriter, and producer), Mary y Mike and Dignidad (executive producer in both). The series Noticia de un Secuestro, which Andrés directed, co-wrote, and executive produced, premiered in 2022, winning Platinum Awards in 2023 for Best Ibero- American Series and Best Series Creator. He also produced the feature films La Vaca que Cantó una Canción Hacia el Futuro, premiered at Sundance 2022; and 1976, premiered at Cannes Directors' Fortnight 2022.
