Lionel Rupp completed three short films before graduating from the Geneva School of Art and Design (HEAD – Genève): Le poisson (2007), La forêt (2010), and Eskapop (2011).
He co-directed his feature debut Quai Ouest (2012) with his brother Adrien. In 2015 he was one of ten directors to make Wonderland (Heimatland), a dark mosaic of allegorical stories about contemporary Switzerland that competed at the Locarno IFF.
He cooperates on interdisciplinary projects with theater directors, playwrights, musicians, and a variety of artists in conjunction with the eight-member artistic collective Zooscope, founded in 2008. And Zooscope Productions backed Rupp's documentary debut A Campaign of Their Own, produced by Michael David Mitchell, who joined the Lausanne collective four years ago.
