Stephan Richter studied at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, where he graduated in 2007 with his first experimental short film, Out of Bounds, screened at several international film festivals. Richter continued to experiment with the short film format with, among others, Comeback (2010) and Better Dead than Read (2011), finally receiving the Starter Award for Film Arts from the Austrian Ministry of Culture and Arts and starting to work on Einer vons uns (One of Us), his first feature film.
