Biografie

Gordon is the co-founder and artistic director of Kartemquin Films. He has been producing documentaries, mentoring filmmakers and serving as a lauded industry leader for five decades. A lifelong-supporter of public media, Gordon helped establish the Indie Caucus to champion independence and diversity in public television and led the charge to create the Documentary Filmmakers’ Statement of Best Practices in Fair Use. Gordon is a field expert on issues of fair use, ethics, and storytelling in documentary. He received the IDA’s 2015 Career Achievement Award for his services to the industry. He has received awards in his career from the Directors Guild of America, the Producers Guild of America, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and the Sundance Film Festival, among several others.
