Inhalte(1)

In the ‘60s, a young Manuel Antin meets Julio Cortázar. Thus begins a friendship that gives way to a long-distance communication, materialized in letters that cross the Atlantic, and that later took place in person. Finally, Antin would shoot three films based on four of the Hopscotch author’s short stories –Odd Number (1962), The Venerable Ones (1963) and Circe (1964), generating a cinema of ideas that breaks the mold of its time and establishes a dialogue with his contemporaries from the French New Wave. Cortázar’s letters – and, above all, the finding of a tape with his voice – reveal a tension between the writer that marches on a director’s space and the director who tries to elude the meandering bond between literature and film.
